February has lots of LOVE in the air, it’s a great time to show you care!
Our young artists have been working very hard, making beautiful Valentine’s day cards. They are very excited to share their art work with friends and family!
February’s weather has been so delightful, our children have been able to work with the water table again!! Look at how much fun they are having!
Ever since our school trip to the Shark Reef, our children have been extra curious about seashells and the ocean. Here they are exploring the sand and shells!
There’s always something to explore in our outdoor classroom!
The most exciting thing the children have been exploring is the hummingbird family which visits our greenhouse daily!
Some facts about the hummingbird that we have learned are:
- Hummingbirds are small, colorful birds with iridescent feathers.
- Their name comes from the fact that they flap their wings so fast (about 80 times per second) that they make a humming noise.
- Hummingbirds can fly right, left, up, down, backwards, and even upside down.
- They are also able to hover by flapping their wings in a figure-8 pattern.
- They have a specialized long, tapered bill that is used to obtain nectar from the center of long, tubular flowers.
- The hummingbird’s feet are used for perching only, and are not used for hopping or walking.
- Hummingbirds primarily eat flower nectar, tree sap, insects and pollen.
Our children are compassionate and loving, they know how to solve problems, appreciate books and stories, and are moved by our outdoor environment. They celebrate discovery and wonder each day!
To all of our FMS families: Happy ♥ Valentines Day ♥,
and remember learning is endless!!
Love Ms. Val & Ms. Kim
