December is always remembered

December always brings a special kindness in the air, our pinecones are decorated with care, and all of the children cannot wait to share. Thanks to Ms. Barbara we always have lots of fun, but without her we would never get done!

P1000554P1000574P1000572P1000550P1000544P1000545

Our greenhouse still flourishes under December’s brisk air. It’s cold outside, but not in there! Remember our children always need encouragement like plants need soil and water, it helps them grow inside and out.

Good choices help to develop an independent mind that allows the children to feel empowered. Think about how much better you feel when you have a choice in what you are doing!

January

January is just around he corner, it will bring eggshell grinding. Eggshells bring natural nutrients back into the soil. This will be an experiment in progress, so if you remember please send us your eggshells.

Let’s Give Thanks In November

Hi everyone, it is hard to believe November is almost over. Our children have been enjoying the beautiful weather, however please keep in mind that the temperatures in the mornings can be very chilly. Please remember to dress the children in appropriate outdoor clothing. We want all the children to enjoy and benefit from all that the outdoor classroom has to offer and when they are cold it takes away from the learning experience!

P1000507

Our children have once again had the pleasure of working with Ms. Barbara. Here we are cutting, hole punching, sewing and tying. Ms. Barbara helped and showed the children how to make a moccasin shoe from paper. The children discovered that a long time ago, the Native Americans used tree bark to make their shoes which are known as Moccasin’s.

P1000498P1000493P1000499P1000500P1000492Thank you so much Ms. Barbara!

Our children are always busy taking care of our greenhouse. We will be harvesting some of our vegetables very shortly, we can’t wait to taste them!!!

We are in need of some pots for planting, as well as bird seed. If anybody has some extras at home, donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Wishing you all the joys of a truly Happy Thanksgiving!

Nibbling at November

As November approaches please keep in mind that the weather is changing. In the morning it can be very chilly; therefore, I recommend dressing the children in layers so that they can remove clothing as the day warms up. Over the past several years we have found this to work the best, as well as, making sure the children wear socks and comfortable shoes.

As always, October Is an extremely busy time of the year for us! This year we have been very lucky to have such a wonderful helping hand from Ms. Barbara. So here is what we have been up to for October…

  • Pumpkin carving
  •                                         Tasting Toasted Pumpkin Seeds
  •                                          Nibbling on our Pomegranates
  •                                                      Leaf collections
  •                                             Tending to our greenhouse

We have had a positive response with the children’s communication skills. We have been working hard at teaching the children courtesy and how to show it to each other. This is not an easy task, but once learned it is a lesson never forgotten and frequently used.
