October News

October has come and gone so quickly. The butterflies are finally free, Mia of P2 and Tia of P4 were both thinking alike by bringing in butterfly cocoons. The children were amazed at watching this inception of life moving forward. They enjoyed releasing these butterflies back to nature, it was a great experience. Thank you Mia and Tia!!!!!!!

The garden has a new addition, welcome Ms Val the Scarecrow! She has been keeping an eye on things in the garden for us. She will be there for the month of November.

Inch worms have been seen in abundance in the morning. The children are measuring their various lengths with there tape measure, they  love it!!!!! Working and learning outdoors seems to agree with them immensely.

Now that the  weather has changed, please  dress the children accordingly. The mornings are relatively cool, so please make sure the children have sweaters or jackets.   Remember learning is endless!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check out these great pictures!

September 2012

Hi  everyone,

Where has September gone! In this past month we have had the opportunity to

explore and experience what nature has provided for our childen. The children have

flourished in our outdoor environment.

We have identified  various  species of birds.  Due to the large amount of rain we

have had in the last few months, we have had the opportunity to observe many rare

hornworm caterpillars. Wow, what a great experience for our children! We also have

been detectives in the garden observing insects.

Our planting in the garden has started and the fruits of thier labor are finally showing.

We have many children that are showing thier artistic ability as well, just look at the

beautful paintings hanging everyday in our outdoor classroom.

Remember…….learning is endless!!!!   See you in October….

Love, Ms Val

Welcome to the Outdoor Classroom!

Hi everyone and welcome to the outdoor classroom.  It’s amazing how much interest our children have in this great area.  For starters, we have created the FMS logo in the garden with assorted flowers.  We also have discovered that we have the best gardeners around and they are our children.
